Picnic areas and shelters on mount Etna
On Etna there are various shelters and picnic areas.
The shelters on Etna have various uses. The Gino Menza Shelter was destroyed in June 1992 during the long eruption that threatened the town of Zafferana Etnea.
The âPhilosopherâs Towerâ disappeared during the eruption of 2002.
Along the route known as â the high mountain slopeâ you can find picnic areas with water (non-drinkable), wooden tables and benches, that are always open and accessible.

Key features of the Excursion
PSYCHO-PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: not suitable for people with health problems in particular with problems to the cardio-respiratory.
RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT:
We recommend that all our members wear trekking shoes, with the correct socks, and bring a wind-jacket because the temperature can be 10-15°C colder than in the towns. Please also bring 2 litres of water.
